Regan-ALH Pride
Producers aiming to improve their herds by correctively mating their cows to sires that transmit the traits they seek, appreciate bulls that are consistent. Selecting reliable bulls that are consistent in their breeding pattern is the most efficient way to breed a uniform herd of cows that thrive under the same management conditions. Regan-ALH Pride is Mr. Consistency, and his ability to stamp his daughters is something to behold. His first 80 classified daughters from across western Canada are 74% Good Plus or better, a remarkable result for a randomly sampled young sire. Pride daughters have superb, shallow (12S) mammary systems. They’re highly attached in the rear with uniformly shaped rear quarters from the top to the bottom that could be slightly wider at times. The fore attachments are extremely long and blend well into the body wall. Pride excels at spreading rear teats, yet still positioning them under the quarter as his phenotypic data shows 91% of his daughters classified between 5-7 for RTP.
Pride sires medium statured cows with an abundance of dairyness. They are angular, with a hard top and clean bone. The traits where his daughters show some variability are in width and depth of their rib, with some inheriting substantial capacity from their dams and others reflecting their sire’s proof. Pride does a good job of setting the pins down, and transmitting correct rump structure that provides for good mobility. The tendency to slightly curved legs makes him a complimentary cross to the many straight legged cows around.
Pride transmits medium milk production improvement with exceptional fat % deviation (+.39%) and a pleasing +.10% for protein. His low somatic cell score, functional type traits and pedigree provide him with an impressive prediction of 110 for Herd Life. He’s sired by the Blitz son Socrates who has a reliable Herd Life proof of 108 out of A-L-H Durham Eve VG-88-3YR-USA DOM 3*. Eve is a daughter of Wauregan Rudolph Elly Mae, herself a daughter of the noted 95 point brood cow Whittier-Farms Lead Mae. Consider including Pride in your breeding program and expect him to sire a group of cows you’ll be proud of.
