New exciting additions to our Genomax list at proof time is perhaps becoming more exciting than watching the early Genomax bulls graduating to the proven lineup. April proofs, even with a base change to make more moderate the top end numbers for all traits, delivered another wonderful bag of goodies.
First Sons
Over the past year two Genomax bulls who still remain on our proof sheet have been exceedingly popular with breeders. Now their first sons join the proof sheet with them!
Stantons EXPANDER (High Octane x Uno) – His dam Enya is a sister to the very popular Genomax bull Pulsar and to Main Event. Add High Octane for more Milk and more Type and you get the appropriately named Expander. He’s among our top Genomax Type offerings at +18. Only Solomon exceeds him at +19. Expander is expected to sire pleasing production that is enhanced by thrilling overall udder and dairy strength improvement. This bull is destined to make fancy ones. Anyone who appreciates high scoring cows can make good use of Expander, but those who want to make the kind that could parade on the tanbark are particularly advised to go ahead and place your order. His Immunity+ status is a nice bonus.
Claynook MOVIEINK (Wickham x McCutchen) – his dam is a VG-87-2-YR old with an 88 point F&L and 89 point Rump score. Still, as impressive as that is, what you really need to know is that this is the first Wickham son on offer. Wickham the extremely popular Mogul son whose calves are turning heads everywhere. Movieink will make them as glamourous as you’d need for a Hollywood encounter. An exceptional combination of udder and F&L improvement is what you should expect. And while they might like the lights and the glitter, when the show’s over they won’t mind pulling their weight day to day with the rest of the herd either!
Boldi EAGLE (Ascend x Meridian) – A slightly different pedigree and a huge winner in the DGV sweepstakes. In other words his DNA sort is particularly favourable with a nearly 200 point spread on DGV LPI to his GPA LPI. The result is despite having a pedigree that wouldn’t suggest he should be our best, we have no bulls on offer currently with a higher LPI. He will be our only Ascend son and likely the only Ascend son in AI. That he is out of one of the very few Meridian daughters who would be a bull mother makes Eagle even more unique. He provides a balanced offering with excellent component yields and percents. In fact he is our highest fat and protein percent bull with over 1,000kg Milk. Combine it with excellent Type and an extreme Calving Ability prediction and this is then a bull that seems to be a must-use sire.
RJR SPIDERMAN (Pure x Uno) – Spiderman is our first Pure (Mogul x Man O Man) son. He’s a Pro$ specialist and LPI specialist too and he’s our highest rated bull for TPI. In fact, he might be our most balanced bull on offer based on his Canadian numbers. High yields, an excellent balanced Type proof with the benefit of making moderate sized cows, he is predicted to transmit ideal teat length and lower pins. Notably he has a picture perfect health trait profile including good milking speed and calving ease – plus he’s an Immunity+ bull. Why not transform your herd with some Spiderman super-bovine strength and that spider-sense to keep them out of danger (off cull lists). This is a bull you should use!!
UPPERCUT (Unix x Sudan x Bronco x Satire x Aaron x Merrill x Oscar) – With such an eclectic lineup of sires in his maternal pedigree, it is extremely hard to imagine that the outcome would be a bull with 3263 LPI prediction and a +15 Type score. In fact, Uppercut is sure to be singled out as an outcross pedigree of choice in 2016. He has high component percentages and extreme udder improvement as his key weapons and a no-holes health trait profile to add further appeal. He’s a bull that is an affordable choice to add diversity to your herd’s bloodlines.
Silverridge V ERIC (Lottomax x McCutchen) – His dam is a sister to the extremely popular Genomax sire, Wickham. He’s also our first Lottomax son on offer and a very well balanced offering once again. His +15 for Conformation in Canada makes him very competitive – meanwhile his +3.33 rating for PTAT in the US makes places him among the top group of bulls. He’s another Immunity+ bull and an easy one to use without any real areas of deficit.
Red-R-J-My MEMORIAL (Pulsar x Uno) – Our first Pulsar son, Memorial is a solid Robot-Ready addition who can make cows with excellent foot structure, wider rear teat placing and an excellent combination of Herd Life and Daughter Fertility. He’s affordably priced too – don’t miss out.
While these additional two bulls are not the first sons from their sire, they are both exceptional new offerings and are easy choices to include in most programs:
Cedarwal CREW (Kingboy x Uno) – Bred right here in Western Canada and tracing to the very popular “Cosmopolitan” cow family, Crew will undoubtedly be a popular addition to our Genomax lineup. He’s an Immunity+ bull delivering a very nice balance of component yields with high Type. Both udder and F&L breakdowns look very good and his solid Calving Ability score should make him safe for use on heifers even at this stage in his career.
Progenesis ORION (Kingboy x Mogul) – Among our top “dual citizen” bulls, offering top-end LPI and TPI improvement. He sires extreme milk (over 2000Kg), extreme Type with ideal Udders and F&L and he is safe for use on heifers even without actual daughter information. What’s more he improves Milking Speed and is an Immunity+ bull.
Lots of compelling choices. As always, spread your risk by using many if not all of them!
