Launch Day

October 9th was the official day when WestGen unveiled its new brand, and it did so with a bang. The morning was abuzz with staff putting up decorations, tents, tables and chairs at the Milner office, making sure that everything was ready for our big event.

The launch party began with CEO, Chris Parry, and Board President, Tony DeGroot, giving a formal address. Many speeches followed, including speeches made by 4 staff members who personally talked about WestGen’s new corporate values and what the new values meant to them.

Carl Barclay, Genetic Advisor
Value: Always Leading

As a WestGen Genetic Advisor, I am always aware that I serve WestGen’s owners, the dairy farmers of western Canada. I do my best to stay educated, up to date, and knowledgeable about the challenges and opportunities my customers face. It is my challenge to bring innovative and effective products and information to my clients that will fit the needs on their dairy. I am proud to be part of a company built and owned by Canadian dairy farmers, and I am proud of the success that has made the Canadian cow envied around the world. It is a source of pride.

Mike McDermid, Reproduction Team Lead
Value: You Can Count On Us. Always

The technician department strives to uphold this promise to our customers every day. WestGen technicians are trained to the highest industry standards and will arrive on the farms with the most up to date equipment.

Our full service herds can continue to expect the high quality performance that they enjoy now and the peace of mind that comes from knowing that we treat their cows as if they were our own.

As a former dairy farmer I understand that there are many companies who claim to offer a great service but finding one who keeps that promise is not always easy. We want your business and want to have great relationships with our customers.

Lisa Bailey, Accounts Receivable Coordinator
Value: It Starts With Me

This value resonates with me and definitely applies to my role in accounts receivables.

In order to learn and grow from my mistakes I first have to own up to them. I prefer to spend my energy on solving a problem, rather than assigning blame.

When working with customers, being proactive allows me to rise above the challenges before they happen and eliminates negative stress for everyone involved.

Kristin Dahl, Product Support Specialist
Value: Belonging

When everyone in a company embraces this value, there are no limits to it’s potential.

As a Product Support Specialist at WestGen, I enjoy the opportunity to travel across western Canada visiting herds of our members, prospective members and young sire proving partners. While the landscape and dairies from BC through Manitoba vary vastly, the commonalities among dairy producers are many. For myself and our team, this is more than a job, it’s our life. Coming from dairy backgrounds, we have a vested interest in helping our industry continue to thrive and our involvement is more than a 9-5 job. We enjoy actively volunteering many hours to organizations such as 4-H, breed associations and WCC, and relish in watching the next generation of dairy producers develop their passion for this great industry and the great Canadian dairy cow.

It was great to hear these speeches from our staff members!

Guests also saw a video that displayed WestGen’s new look of stationary, vehicles, clothing, etc. Then came time to unveil the outdoor sign. We handed out new WestGen t-shirts and everyone got together to pose for some great pictures.

By that time, everyone was smelling the chicken cooking on the BBQ and it was time for lunch and, of course, a celebratory cake. As with any good party, goodie bags are essential so all guests left with a new WestGen hat, mug and pen.

It was a wonderful event where we were able to show our new look and make our first impression of being a company that is passionate about who we are and what we do.
