Building for the Future
When I first articulated my vision for WestGen nearly three years ago, I promised results and positive change. I wanted to secure a long-term future for the Western Canadian producers who’d grown with us for nearly 70 years, as well as for our own WestGen staff. Following the departure of the bulls in 2011, it wasn’t hard to see that customers and staff alike were weighed down by a sense of uncertainty towards the future of our company. However, I came to WestGen to build a future, not end it. Our journey over the past three years has not been easy, but we’ve faced our challenges head on, and as a team. It was our teamwork that inspired us to keep moving forward, which subsequently lead to the launch of two new subsidiaries- Boviteq West and Cryogen, both of which have exceeded nearly every expectation. We also relaunched the WestGen brand, and in doing so, we sparked a cultural change within the entire organization. Now more than ever, we’re a unifying force in the West, and we’re one that supports and invests in Western causes. This July brought a pivotal moment- the Board of Directors gave a unanimous final approval on the construction of our new home. This not only marks the start of a new era for us, but also (and more importantly) it sends a clear message that the WestGen Group of Companies is here to stay. With your continued support and encouragement, we look forward to what the next 70 years will bring.
